Hiring

The contract is only for clients based in Zambia. I prepare a contract after you tell me what you would like me to do for you. Upon your approval of the contract, I begin the work. In a nutshell, the contract has the following conditions:

• My promises are listed. The promises include project features, timeline, and progress updates.
• All resources that you must provide are listed. The resources include content (text and/or images), information from third party services like payment gateways (if applicable), and money for third-party services like hosting.
• You have to pay me 30% of the total charge as down payment. I get the rest after completing the project.
• If I fail to complete the project before the deadline, I'll either terminate the project or continue up to the maximum delay.
• If I terminate the project upon failure, I'll refund you the down payment.
• If I choose to continue, I'll be penalized by reducing the payment by the same amount as the delay. That is to say, by the end of an additional time of 30% of the promised duration, I would have been penalized a fee equivalent to the down payment (30%).
• When the delay reaches 30%, the contract is terminated and I refund you the 30% for down payment, and add another 30% for the delay. Resulting in a total of 60% of the project charge.
• All resources listed in the contract that you must provide must be provided within the first 30% of the total duration.
• Any delay beyond this will result in a penalty. You will be charged an extra amount equal to the delay. That is to say, the penalty would equal 70% at the end of the project duration. The project timeline will also be extended by the same amount as the delay.
• When the delay reaches the end of the project duration, the contract is terminated. You won't pay the penalty. You won't be refunded the down payment.
• You can avoid the penalty entirely by providing all the required resources before signing the contract.
• The contract will be signed digitally using email.

I prefer to get paid weekly. The prices are set in US dollars. The prices I charge are 50% higher. The following are the reasons for this:

• I get charged a fee for using the platform.
• I may have to work at hours outside my normal working hours.
• I may have to deal with internationalization and localization.

You are required to pay an extra 10% of the total charge to the platform.

The only conditions I set on the platform are the prices and timelines. The rest is handled by the platform. So, make sure that you read their terms and conditions. Upwork offers a process for a refund in case the freelancer fails to deliver on their promises.
